As most of you are already aware, heating costs when coming from "Big Oil" are about as predictable as the stock market. One thing that has been very consistent over the years is the price of a bushel of CORN. Corn puts out an incredible amount of B.T.U.'S (App. 9000 B.T.U.'s per Hour per pound) . It takes approximately 5.5 gallons of L.P. gas to put out the B.T. U.'s of one bushel of corn. At todays LP price, corn would have to be app. $9.50/bushel. (Currently it is app. $3.50/bushel) The other huge advantage of Corn is that it renews itself yearly whereas oil takes millions of years.
